Matt de Boer and Tendai Mzungu are among five additions to Fremantle’s squad for Sunday’s clash against the Western Bulldogs at Domain Stadium.

As expected, ruckman Aaron Sandilands has recovered from a tweaked gluteal muscle, while Matthew Pavlich will return for his 353rd and final AFL match.

Key defender Zac Dawson has also been included in the squad after serving a three-match suspension for rough conduct on Sydney Swans defender Jake Lloyd in round 19 at Domain Stadium.

First-year player Sam Collins and ruckman Zac Clarke have been omitted.

Speaking after last Saturday’s loss to the Giants at Spotless Stadium, senior coach Ross Lyon nominated de Boer and Mzungu as two possible “sentimental inclusions” for Pavlich’s farewell match.

Match preview

De Boer has lined up alongside the former Freo skipper in 122 of his 137 AFL games and shares a close relationship with Pavlich off the field, while Mzungu has also played a significant portion of his career with the 34-year-old Fremantle champion.

Both de Boer and Mzungu have shown strong form for Peel.

The final squad of 22 will be announced on Friday at 3pm WST.

Bounce down for Sunday’s match is at 2:40pm WST.
