Bailey Banfield has been a ‘Mr. Fix It’ for Fremantle in the first three games of their 2024 campaign, and the 26-year-old is loving his time playing multiple roles around the ground.

Banfield gathered 15 disposals and kicked a classy goal in the Club’s 35-point victory over the Adelaide Crows at Optus Stadium on Friday evening, as Fremantle start the season 3-0 heading into Gather Round.

“I’m really enjoying my footy at the moment,” Banfield said post-match.

“I love getting up the ground a bit more and playing on the wing which is a bit new, but I feel like I’m able to impact well there.

“I’m still learning a bit of the craft and figuring some stuff out, but I think being able to play multiple roles is important.

During round one Banfield found himself playing in the back half after multiple injuries forced on-field changes late in the game.

“First game I played all three lines and then wing and forward for the last two, so being able to chop and change and not lose too much is good,” Banfield said.

“I think sometimes it can be hard mentally chopping and changing between roles so being able to stay mentally engaged in the game and do whatever the role requires of me at that time.

“I think that’s held me in really good stead so far and I look to keep going with that.”

Fremantle will face Carlton at Adelaide Oval next Saturday in Gather Round, a game Banfield said the Club is looking forward to.

ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS

“Every game is a great opportunity and we are really looking forward to Carlton and testing ourselves against the best, it's why we play footy,” Banfield said.

“I think we’ve got the game style and we’ve shown over the past couple of years we can beat the best teams, so it will just be a matter of bringing our best footy.

“We will get over to Adelaide, it’s a bit of a longer trip with Port the week after that so we will make it a second home for the next week or two.”
